HACKSAW ENTERTAINMENT: The New Era of Parties in SF!

2009 has already brought us a wave of change, optimism and a fresh start.....here in SF, we've also been given a brand new reason to party!

(George Sylvain, Shane King, Tom Hamilton)

Hacksaw Entertainment is the new brand of electronic music and parties in SF! George Sylvain (a young entrepreneur straight from the UK) teamed up with DJs Tom Hamilton (aka DJMorale) and Shane King, two of the Bay Area's most talented and prolific DJ's (they host "Dirty Rotten Dance Party" on Fridays @ Madrone), to create a new era of parties with an emphasis on intimate DJ showcases and low cover charges.

This thursday, Jan 22, Hacksaw launches their new party "THE NOISE," the first of many events taking place regularly throughout the year to come. The event will be held at 103 Harriet in SF, and features music from Hookerz & Blow, Ana Sia, and Lazer Sword.

"We are deliberately keeping the line-up simple," says co-founder, George Sylvain. "It is our opinion that a lot of parties try to feature too many DJs and you don't get to experience the best they have to offer, so this is a great opportunity to see 3 of the best up-and-coming acts in the Bay Area in an intimate environment with a great crowd...We are also trying to keep it cheaper for everyone to party and enjoy music despite what is going in with the world right now… so we will be keeping ticket costs low and offering great drink specials at as many of the parties as possible."

Sylvain also gave some insight into the lineup for Thursday night's party...

HOOKERZ & BLOW (Mozaic & EPROM)
"Hookerz & Blow are a live DJ and mashup duo from the SF Bay Area, who play a real party-rocking set that is sure to propel them to ever greater heights over 2009. You can get a taste of their sound from their myspace page, or if you're in the lucky group going to Diplo at 103 Harriet for New Year's, you will get to see them throw down a set there. They are one of our favorites and this is a great chance to see them headline a show in an intimate environment."

ANA SIA
"Ana Sia is one of the most prolific San Francisco DJs, legendary for heavy-hitting bass and filling out dance floors. She has played alongside such acts as The Glitch Mob and even at festivals such as Lightning In A Bottle and Sonic Bloom."

LAZER SWORD (performing a DJ Set)
"Lazer Sword is Lando Kal, and LL, and they are a real treat to see perform. They will be playing one of their impressive DJ sets which are deservedly gaining them a great reputation in San Francisco and beyond."

THE NOISE is THURSDAY, Jan 22 @ 103 Harriet in SF
$7 @ The Door
Music starts @ 10pm

LA-based Indie Trio to Record New Album in 2009

LA-based indie rock/pop trio, Everybody Else, hits the studio in early 2009 to record the follow-up to their self-titled debut album that dropped in April, 2007.
Lead singer, Carrick Moore-Gerety, Bassist, Austin James Williams, and Drummer, Mikey McCormack have been on back-to-back US tours since their album was released, piggy-backing with Rooney, (who share their label, Militia Group), in the summer of 2007. In January, 2008, EBE churned out a self-produced acoustic album of their original 12 songs, titled “1 1/2,” which was released in Japan and landed them on a well-received Japanese tour. The band just returned back to LA after two back-to-back US tours, including a 3 month tour with Hanson, and are preparing to gather their collective new material to record their sophomore album in 2009.
While you wouldn’t know it by the crowds of devoted fans screaming the lyrics to every song at EBE shows, the 12 songs featured on their debut album are older than the current lineup itself. The songs were written by singer, Carrick Moore-Gerety, who created the band after playing with “The Push Kings.” Carrick joined up with Mikey McCormack, who had been drumming in VA-based group, “The Waking Hours,” and the two collaborated to refine and record the 12 tracks (along with 4 others that are now available for purchase on iTunes as the “Gold Noise EP”) with producer Rick Parker (BRMC). In 2006, the band was introduced to Austin James Williams, a standing EBE fan and eager new talent on the LA scene. They quickly hired him as their new bassist after realizing the powerful dynamic, and the band was signed to Militia Group soon thereafter, finally releasing the original 12 tracks.
Even though the success of the first album is undeniable and EBE fans are still relentlessly devoted to the band’s trademark songs, Everybody Else is ready to reinvent themselves as musicians. With three musicians whose talent and song-writing skills stand strong individually, the new album is sure to reflect the collective contributions of each member, while staying true to their signature, universal power-pop sound.
