Show of the year!

On Saturday, May 30, Hacksaw Entertainment in conjunction with Another Planet Entertainment hosted Pretty Lights at the Independent Theater in SF.

The long-awaited show featuring Colorado-based duo, Derek Vincent Smith (producer/DJ) and live drummer, Cory Eberhard, packed the Inde with fans from every corner of the music scene ready to dance to the uniquely accessible beats ranging from downtempo IDM, to hip-hop, to hard-hitting electro funk.

A floor-to-ceiling screen of LED lights silhouetted the duo as they hit the stage with notable stage presence. With a well-rehearsed swagger, Derek took his place behind the mixers, donning his signature sideways cap and over-sized eyeglasses, accessorized appropriately with a burning cigarette in his mouth. Cory, who had a noticeably unusually muscular build for a drummer, sat behind the drum set which he pounded as accurately as a metronome throughout the entire set without breaking once. (No wonder he was so built).

With a well-planned setlist that kept the crowd attentive and dancing to the well-known hits ("Who loves Me," "Hot Like Sauce," "More Important than Michael Jordan"), and squeezing in new releases from their latest album (to be released soon), there wasn't a dull moment or a wallflower in sight.

They finished off their stellar encore with a surprisingly unique and unprecedentedly badass remix of some top 40 favorites, including MIA & Santogold. Before you scoff at the generic choice of songs, watch for yourself and pay attention to the skilled layering and editing that made the mix truly original...

Let the madness begin...

7:08am....

Looking out the window at this ungodly hour, I already know today is going to be just as hot (if not hotter) than yesterday...a rarity at this time of year in SF.

All the better to fry your little fucked up brains with, my pretties.....

We wake up, wipe the sleep from an attempt at a full-night's sleep from our eyes, down our coffee, blast our music, and as the reality of what's to come hits us like a Muni bus, Thomas's face lights up with giddy joy as he giggles like a little kid on Christmas as says.....

....HOLY FUCK THIS IS GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See you out there, SF! Come find us!

...let's just say there's a lot of spandex involved
